What is net metering?
Net metering is a billing system that allows you to feed surplus electricity produced by your solar system back into the grid. This surplus appears as a credit on your bill.
Why is the 2026 deadline important?
The Serbian government has adopted amendments to the energy law. The net metering system will be discontinued after December 31, 2026. This means:
- Those who register as prosumers by the end of 2026: keep net metering for the full system lifetime (25 years)
- Those who become prosumers in 2027 or later: will be subject to a different — as yet unknown — settlement system
